The key areas of innovation in Market Research in 2017?

Start Future buttonIn February next year, I am, once again, curating and co-chairing IIeX Europe. We are currently putting the structure together and will be issuing a call for speakers and contributions shortly. For the last few years IIeX has been at the forefront of showcasing innovative MR and we want to ensure that 2017 is another leap forward.

IIeX will be held at Beurs van Berlage in, Amsterdam from 20 to 21 February 2017.

In good NewMR fashion I would like to crowdsource ideas for where the cutting edge is going to be in 2017. Here are a few questions and I urge you to either: enter your suggestion below as comments, or contact me directly via ray.poynter@thefutureplace.com.

  1. How new tech will impact product centric research (consumer testing/sensory)? I know it is quite focused topic irrelevant for many researchers, but for me, it is curious enough.

  2. Hi Roman, many thanks for the suggestion. One thing that caught my eye is how unusual it is these days to refer to product centric research, the buzz is all about customer centricity. But, you raise a good point that some types of product need to be tested in ways that allow the senses to be involved, e.g. touch or smell.

  3. 100% agree. Hearing buzz and buzz it is easy to forget about what happens in consumers fridges and their real feelings about interaction with the product

  4. I would love to see outrageous methods of polling, those that deliberately and grossly ignore probability sampling methods, and particularly those that have managed to predict a few election results. And maybe methods that don’t even use, gasp, surveys.
