The State of Insights – September 2023

NewMR produced the second wave of its study of optimism and pessimism in the insight and research ecosystem.  You can download the full report by clicking here.

Optimism in Insights

The key findings from the study are:

  • Nearly two-thirds of research and insight professionals describe themselves as optimistic. However, about 10% describe themselves as pessimistic.
  • The most positive thing about insights at the moment is AI (and associated technologies) in terms of current and potential uses.
  • The main worry/negative at the moment is also AI, mostly about its potential to be misused. Other negatives included concerns about data quality and economic worries.
  • Regardless of whether people saw AI as a positive or a negative, most people expect to be using more of it over the next 18 months.
